Winger

I absolutely loved this book, it’s the third in the series the first two being Grinder and Enforcer and this one was the best so far. It had everything from second chance to slow burn to miscommunication. It even only had the two being apart for a very short period of time. I really loved this book and I thought Jeanine and Warren were such a great match. I had been super excited to read Jeanine’s story because she was the best out of the friend group from the first two and her story did not disappoint. There couldn’t have been a better match-up for her than Warren who surprisingly actually listened to his friends when they spoke to him. In the first two books the guys were kind of like yeah yeah I get it but Warren actually listened and used their advice. He was just so sweet and kind and just an utter gentleman. Their story just made so much sense and was so good. It also did the same as the first two and allowed for the other characters to be involved in a great light that didn’t diminish their own happy endings. I also really like how the author, Samantha Whiskey, slowly brought in the Rookie (Bentley) so that the next book being his story isn’t at all a surprise. She has this great way of slowly looping in characters so that it’s not at all surprising which book will be next. All in all I just really liked this book so I give it 5 steaming cups of tea! – Hannah

Enforcer

I really liked this book too, which is a standalone but it is the second book in the Seattle Sharks series the first of which being Grinder (which I reviewed here: Grinder). I thought this book was really cute and had a lot of strong points but there were also a few things that I really didn’t like. I thought that Paige and Rory were really cute together and I loved watching them fall but I also felt like they had already fallen a lot previously to the book so if you’re looking for a slow burn kind of romance this is not it. However, that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t still a great book which it was. I also just absolutely love the side characters, getting to see Bailey and Gage a lot was great and knowing that they’re doing so well but that they’re story isn’t ruined by the one being told. I just absolutely loooooove Jeanine. She’s so funny and such a great side character and I’m really excited to read her story because I know it’s next. I think my biggest issue with this book was that the end felt slightly rushed and that I felt like there were some things that just weren’t brought together in the end. Like the whole thing with her dad that like it seemed like she forgave him so quickly after such an amazing walk out scene that honestly made the whole book for me. Her telling him off was everything, I was like finally she did it because the standard to which she was held was absolutely ridiculous. Anway, I really enjoyed this book so 4 cups of tea! – Hannah

Grinder

I liked this book! It was really good and I’m excited because it’s only the first in a rather long series. So I’m excited to read the rest of them. Anyway, there were a lot of things that I really enjoyed about this book. First I absolutely loved Bailey I thought she was an amazing lead character. Totally developed and I understood every decision she made. Also, Lettie was the absolute cutest when she calls Bailey “my bailey” it was so touching. I simply couldn’t put this book down I was just so into it. Though I had my share of issues with it that I will get into later. Before moving on I just want to say how much I like Samantha Whiskey’s writing, it’s just so clear and so funny when it’s supposed to be. She also does such a great job at establishing secondary characters. Like I loved the scenes with Paige and Jeanine. Very excited to read their stories because I’m sure they’re going to get them. On to why I gave it a 4 and not a 5 it’s almost entirely Gage. He was just so stubborn and I understand that a conflict was needed but it just made him seem so stuck in his ways and not open to anything. Also I just really didn’t like his behavior towards women at the beginning of the book so it threw me a little. Overall though I really enjoyed the book and I give it 4 cups of tea! – Hannah

Axel

I really liked this book! I really liked the writing style, the humor level was pretty high and the characters were really developed. I think what helped with that and what I didn’t realize when I started the book was that most of these characters including Langley were already written. At first I was a little confused because it seemed like I was missing a part of the story because I hadn’t read any of the earlier ones but it ended up being just fine but now I’m excited to go read the earlier ones! The story idea was also great and honestly really cute when he explained his reason for proposing. I think what I really liked the most was that the story just made complete sense, in the fact that the conflict felt like it really fit and the whole story itself with the way it played out just made sense. Also, Axel just seemed like literally the nicest guy ever. I loved the way he was with his brother it really showed who he was as a person. And the way he was in those press conferences was everything. My one snafu was that when he was talking in the press conference he seemed to mean it and said that he did but then he was still mad at her. So just a little confusing but still, really good. I also wish there was more of an epilogue, but I feel like they’ll be featured in the next book so I’ll get to see more of their ending. Overall, 4.5 stars! – Hannah

The Fix

In general I really liked the way that the book was written and the humor level was pretty high which I enjoyed. However, I felt like I never really connected with the story. I really liked the idea and I was ready to dive in and then it just kind of fell a bit flat. I guess my biggest problem was that I didn’t really feel the extreme connection that Laney and Nate seemed to have. I really did not understand the general conflict and there honestly didn’t seem to really be one which is fine except when an author tries to create one that doesn’t really work. That was definitely overall my biggest issue but otherwise I liked the side characters which definitely added to the story so I’ll give Sylvie Stewart credit for that. Overall it was an okay book not my favorite but I also didn’t hate it so 3 cups of tea. – Hannah

Million Baller Baby

Overall it was a really cute book! It wasn’t like my all time favorite but it was really cute! I liked the story idea because I generally like that type of book. Someone who does this topic especially well is Melody Anne in The Tycoon’s Revenge which is a great book that I definitely recommend. Anyway, I really liked the characters I thought they were really developed and I liked the story line itself. It really kept me going because I did not put this book down once I started it. I also thought this was a great sports book in that it really incorporated the sport (football) well. It wasn’t an overwhelming amount and it wasn’t an underwhelming amount it was just right. There were a couple plot holes that I felt could have been filled including in the beginning being really confused as to if they knew each other or not and it seemed a bit odd. Also I generally thought the ending was dragged on for a bit too long because there wasn’t really any content in the book for the last two chapters and there was no epilogue. For me an epilogue is what makes or breaks a book so going into the end it was a 4 and then when there was no epilogue it got downgraded to a 3.5. Overall, though good story and a quick read. – Hannah

The Honey-Don’t List

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I really liked this book! It had the same amazing writing that I’ve come to expect from Christina Lauren seeing as The Unhoneymooners was my favorite book that I read this year. I was very impressed that the authors were able to keep the characters so consistent, in that they were able to develop the characters to such a point that all their decisions really made sense for them. I think this is especially evidenced by Melly. As crazy as she was, she was consistently crazy if that makes any sense. I also thought the relationship between Carey and James was just so natural and sweet. I really liked their budding friendship to relationship. Also I just really liked the plot, I thought it was really interesting and so different. I also loved the way that there was mixed media, it made it even more interesting and just kept me going. Though I felt like the beginning of the book was moving too slowly and the end moved too quickly. I felt like there were just a couple things missing and a lot of characters that were mentioned but really didn’t have a point but I was curious about them. I also think that the end relationship with Carey and Melly was a little confusing but maybe that’s just me. Lastly, I just thought it was a little bazaar that the books title is all about the honey do lists but it’s not until like maybe 3/4’s of the way through the book that a honey-do list was even brought up. Overall, I really enjoyed this one so I give it 4 cups of tea! – Hannah

Nothing But Wild

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.I really liked this book! I was excited to start it because I love P. Dangelico, I think her writing is amazing and this did not disappoint. There were a lot of things I liked about this but also a few that I didn’t. I’ll start with the things I liked. I really liked the slow-burn in this book, that for the majority of the book they were really friends and we as readers got to see that friendship build which was super nice. I also liked that this one was very different than the last one in the series because I really liked the last one except for the ending. I also love how P. Dangelico writes the meetings of the characters, it’s always such a good first meeting like that there’s instantly a story. I also really liked that the friends that were in the last one were also in this one and that it was about Dora who had such a great story and Dallas who was great in the first book and such a great friend to Reagan. On to the things that I didn’t like so much. I didn’t really care for that weird twist at the end, I felt like it was thrown in there because she realized she needed something more but I honestly don’t think anymore was needed. Additionally, I just think there were a bit too many loose ends, there were still a few things that after the book I was like huh? I guess that was resolved which I wish it was a bit more definitive. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I give it 4 cups of tea. – Hannah

Christmas Baby Bargain

So there were some parts of this book that I liked but there was a lot that I didn’t. I’ll start with the good. I thought they were a cute couple and I liked the premise of the book. I always like a good book involving a baby, so many cute moments that come about because of that baby. Moving on to the things I didn’t like. I didn’t really like how stubborn he was and my biggest issue with the book was that there were too many issues. I felt like the author, Pam Mantovani, didn’t know how to create a story without throwing like a million things into the pot and stirring. There was just simply too much going on and it clouded the actual love story between Emily and Carson. Overall, I give this book 2.5 cups of tea. – Hannah

Mixed Match

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Compelling idea got through the first twenty percent really quickly but after that it was a shot show. I couldn’t keep reading i didn’t finish the novel which hasn’t happened in a whole. I didn’t like the writing style and the intimate scenes, were either too much detail or out of the blue and annoying. I thought the characterization was disorganized and the plot was confusing, but that could have been because I had to force myself to read the book, once a week. Normally I finish one of these types of novels in two days even with a busy schedule, this book took me a month which is why the review is so late. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this book, but if you’re looking for a fantastic novel that has a similar idea, like hate to love, or moving somewhere new and falling in love I have suggestions below!
